Heat In The Kitchen

About Us

About Us

Hi, I’m Kelly Russell, the producer behind Heat in the Kitchen. I call this section about us as along the way as I weave my stories I will introduce you to my family and friends and our interaction with food.  My love for food started at the age of 8, in the heart of my family’s kitchen. My mother, Billie, and grandmother, Harriett, were not only my mentors but also my greatest inspirations. Both were exceptional cooks who taught me the joy of creating meals that nourish not just the body but also the soul.

For as long as I can remember, food has been more than just sustenance—it’s been a way to connect with loved ones, honor traditions, and celebrate life. Over the years, I’ve honed my skills and deepened my understanding of the importance of sustainable, wholesome living.

Why Heat in the Kitchen?

I created Heat in the Kitchen to share my passion for food and sustainability with others who, like me, want to make meaningful connections through what we grow, cook, and eat. This is more than a blog or a podcast—it’s a community of like-minded individuals who care about living in harmony with nature.

Here, you’ll find practical tips, heartfelt stories, and creative ideas to inspire your journey, whether you’re cultivating your first herb garden, exploring new recipes, or embracing sustainable food practices.

What Drives Me

I believe food has the power to transform lives. By growing our own ingredients, preserving them thoughtfully, and cooking with care, we can make a positive impact on our health, our environment, and our communities. Through Heat in the Kitchen, I hope to inspire others to see food as a source of joy, connection, and sustainability and a way to connect with others.

In March of 2024 I will be 75 and I have a lot to share. What I have written here is only a fraction of what I have to share about myself and the things I have learned along the way.

Join me as we rediscover the art of living well—one seed, one recipe, and one story at a time.

Welcome to Heat in the Kitchen, where food meets sustainability and every bite brings us closer to a better, more nourished world and a better understanding of how herbs and food keep us healthy.
